Project management is an important part of organizational management which deals with preparation, arranging, and managing resources of a company in order to productively fulfill its objectives and goals. Project management requires several ethics that guide the managers on behavioral ways of running the company projects. In the case of Acme Defense Systems, the response to the request for proposal from the contractor gives the project management team a responsibility to ensure the company acquires the contract.

Problem Statement

Acme Defense Systems Company is looking forward to the consideration of a project from a DOD contractor. The project is aimed at building up a new weapons system for the military. This particular project will be essential because the company is experiencing reduction in project contracts. In this sense, Acme defense Systems also faces stiff competition from Consolidated Armaments for the same contract.

The winning of this contract entirely depends on Ed Turner who is the company's project manager and his team's appeal towards the project. The project management team must find probable solutions to the expectations and standards required by the contractor. This ought to be done with consideration of the agency's response which was enclosed with Consolidated Armaments clarification questions. According to Schwalbe (2008), the success of such projects requires the project managers to evaluate the important tools for identifying priorities, risks, assumptions, and project related issues. The important issue in this analysis therefore is how Ed Turner and his team will apply appropriate project management ethics that will enable them to win the contract.

Possible outcomes if no actions are taken

Project management requires a number of items for the success of a company. In essence, if these aspects are not put into consideration, the company is destined to fail in project management hence leading to its collapse. Acme Defense Systems needs to utilize the ability of the project management team. The team also needs experience and ability to apply project management ethics.

The important aspects of management ethics surround the company's equality of resources (Turk, 2008). Proper management of resources with equal consideration to the most useful equipment is needed to convince the contractor that the company is worth earning the contract. Failure to implement these ideas, the rival company finds through way to win the contract.

Acme needs to also implement the honesty ethic. As a result, the project management team needs to be honest in their request for proposal so as to sway the contractor. The manager should respond and rectify wherever he went wrong in writing the proposal as compared to that of the rival company. By accepting any mistakes done in the proposal, the company could end up winning the contract. The main results of not implying these measures are possible lose of the contract which is very crucial since there is a decline in the number of contracts and hence fall down of the company.

Alternative actions

A part from this essential ethics of project management, Acme Defense Systems should review and introduce the management of project assortment. This helps in supporting the organization by providing equipment for selection of priorities. It further aids in risk identification, and significant specifications.

Since the response from the contractor came with enclosed questions and answers from Consolidated Armament's request for proposal, the project management team of Acme Company needs to analyze both proposals and capitalize on the company's weakness as an advantage of winning the contract.

Principle of PMI's requirement to ethical behavior practice by project managers

Project management requires ideal strategies with good integral values. According Carmack (2004) project managers are required to observe several shared interests and ethics. Concepts of ethics in project management in the business process

Proper ethical behavior in the project management team of a company is proportional to service delivery of the company (Knutson, 2001). The role of ethics in project management is to enable support for the entire team which plans and controls the resources of the company's projects. This is because good moral values and appreciation of the laid down rules enable smooth running of the business due to team work and orderliness that is available.

Ethical issues in an organization are associated with mutual understanding within particular staff (Turner, 2007). If the project managers are not honest to other staff, there are greater possibilities of misleading the company and the type of projects to involve the company. This largely affects the company as a whole hence the importance of ethics in the whole business process.

It is thus important to ensure a great knowledgeable team in the project management of company affairs. This is achieved by training the managers on proper ethical values that would assist in efficient running of the company.
