According to professor "Warren G. Bennis" Leaders are people who do the right thing; managers are people who do things right."

According to "Dwight D.Eisenhower""Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it." Leaders help themselves and others to do the right things. They set direction, build an inspiring vision, and create something new. Leadership is about mapping out where you need to go to "win" as a team or an organization. Leadership is dynamic, vibrant, and inspiring.

Leaders must have an external focus to be effective; managers can focus internally. Both leadership and management are equally essential organizational functions, but only management is a formal role. Leadership is an informal, occasional act, like creativity, not a role. Senior executives are managers by virtue of their roles, not leaders. If their businesses are operating successfully and don't need innovation or process improvements to succeed, then these organizations don't need any leadership. CONCEPTS OF LEADERSHIP

The basic concepts of leadership are found at the heart of every leader. Some people argue that leaders are born. Other people believe that leaders are chosen. Whatever the case, leaders are people who are strong in beliefs and can communicate these beliefs. Leaders also have a strong desire to learn and apply the knowledge that they learn. A leader's skill can also be measured by how he or she can recognize and solve problem.

First of all, leaders must be people who are strong in their beliefs. Someone who is inspirational and wise is more likely to create a more meaningful and lasting memory. A leader must also be able to recognize and help solve problems and conflicts. The basic concepts of leadership include strong personal beliefs, self-awareness, good communication skills, and a desire to learn and apply knowledge. An educated leader is more capable to recognize and solve problems or settle conflicts. A leader that has the ability to recognize his or her mistakes and shortcomings can more effectively than one who cannot. (Joe Battan said,) "The first task of a leader is to keep hope alive. Leaders should also have a strong desire to acquire and to use knowledge. The basic concepts of leadership should be evident in each leader's life. Humility is an admirable trait in one chosen to lead. When these basic concepts of leadership work together, they effectively create and individual that is both an effective leader and a dedicated worker.

Good leaders are made not born. If you have the desire and willpower, you can become an effective leader. Good leaders develop through a never ending process of self-study, education, training, and experience (Jago, 1982). This guide will help you through that process.

According to Bass' (1989 & 1990) theory of leadership states that there are three basic ways to explain how people become leaders. The first two explain the leadership development for a small number of people. These theories are:

Some personality traits may lead people naturally into leadership roles. This is the Trait Theory.

A crisis or important event may cause a person to rise to the occasion, which brings out extraordinary leadership qualities in an ordinary person. This is the Great Events Theory.

People can choose to become leaders. People can learn leadership skills. This is the Transformational Leadership Theory. It is the most widely accepted theory today and the premise on which this guide is based.

CHARACTERSTICS OF LEADERSHIP

THE MAIN CHARACTERSTICS OF LEADERSHIP ARE:

Good leaders have vision. Good leaders know where they are heading and they lead these people toward the same vision that they have for their lives, a community, or even a nation. They do not just look at what things are, but at what things could be.

2. Passionate

Good leaders are not passive people. They are usually extremely passionate in whatever they're doing. Whether it is sports or business, leaders are extremely focused and some of them are even consumed by their passion.

3. Wise

Good leaders are wise and discerning. Being a leader often means that they need to make crucial decisions at various points in their ministry. Having the wisdom to make the right decision is extremely important in ensuring the success of the organization.

4. Compassion

They have compassion for their followers. While they understand they have a goal to pursue, they constantly look back and care for the people that are following them. They are not selfish people who only think about their own needs and luxuries; they also have a heart for the people under them as well.

5. Charismatic

Good leaders are charismatic; they are attractive people and they draw people to them by their shining personalities. Whether is it the way they speak, or the excellence they demand from people; these leaders have an X-factor that people feel drawn toward.

6. Good Communicators

They are very good at orating and speaking. They are extremely well-versed in public speaking and they can influence and inspire people with the things that they say. With this ability, it is not surprise that they can usually garner a good following.

7. Persistent

They are persistent in reaching their goals. They understand that reaching a destination is filled with setbacks. Despite that, they see that the benefits of reaching the goal is greater than that of the setback that they experienced. This makes them extremely persistent people.

8. Integrity

Good leaders have integrity. They mean what they say, and they say what they mean. They are people who keep their promises and they don't play the two-faced political game that a lot of others do. As such, people find them trustworthy and they give their commitment to these leaders as a result.

9. Courageous

They are courageous. Winston Churchill says that courage is the virtue on which all others virtue rest upon. Besides just having a pipe dream, good leaders are courageous enough to pursue after it. The fears are real, but a courageous leader pursues them despite the fears.

10. Disciplined

Good leaders are extremely disciplined in their pursuit of their goals. While most people would be easily distracted or discouraged, good leaders discipline their flesh to keep focused and to keep steady despite the circumstances.

There you go, ten characteristics of good leadership. After reading these ten characteristics, you might see that you are lacking in some areas and strong in others. But no matter, it's not about becoming perfect, but knowing where you are lacking and making an effort to develop those characteristics in yourself.

As from the above, we can easily understand that how leadership quality is more important within us if we want to become a successful leader in our life. Leadership built a sound leader who can easily lead a group of persons under any circumstances to achieve any goal which is set. Leadership helps us to think imaginatively beyond every boundary , it provides a focus , integrity and honesty for the life of leader and not for the leader only also for the followers among the group.

So it is really important for us to become a good leader by polishing our leadership qualities or if we are among followers then it is also same important.

Poor Communication by senior management: If there will be poor communication by senior management then it would results in in-effective work culture and employees can be distracted from their goals. Their would be misunderstanding among employers and employees and management expectation would be different what employees understand. . This will draw a strained relationship between an employee and an employer.

Office politics: In a management people from different -different culture works and everyone has different state of mind. Most of them are intelligent&skillfull who does`t wants to indulge in any kind of politics. But if they are forced to indulge in politics then it would results frustration in employee and employers.

Lack of team work:In a management everyone works as a team , every member of a team has a task to achieve a single goal. If all members perform well and complete his work on time , then only a company can gain success. But if any member of team lack in his work or doest permform his assigned task, it can effect the whole team. This can create a friction among team member in an organization.

The use of politically correct language: the use of informal language can be offensive to some of them. It may not be appropriate at places where people from different culture are working. If people in an organization will not have good will among others, it can end up frustrating some of the colleges.

Nosy co-workers: If workers at work place sneaking or back biting into each of their work which can becom frustration for most of the employees. Employees will be uncomfortable to work and it will bring uneasiness among them.
