THE ROLE OF COMMONWEALTH GAMES

FEDRETION (CGF)

Commonwealth games federation is responsible for organize the games and events in any countries .Commonwealth games is a unique world class multi sport event which held once every four years. It is always reffered to as friendly games.

CGF also encourage and assist education sports development and physical re creation.

EFFECT ON INDIAN ECONOMY OF

COMMONWEALTH GAMES

India was a country shamed by charges of corruption, being inept and was even being given repeated deadlines for garnering evidence of India's ability to hold the games which were under serious threat of being moved elsewhere on an almost a daily basis.

Scandals gained fire through prominent International Newspapers and Tabloids about certain misdoings by "certain" people and much ado was made out of almost nothing.

There were pictures of an Indian Special Forces team of "Langurs" being assigned the role of protection of Athletes after the foot-over bridge debacle as Team India looked set for one delay after the next.

Some however would argue that at times, negative publicity does more of a job in raising awareness than positive publicity.

As things stand today, we are on day 2 of the games and India continues to be a lauded for hosting perhaps the most exciting event held in recent years with the opening ceremony being labeled as an extravagant combination of visuals and events showcasing over 5000 years of India's history and cultural diversity.

Here are some recent facts; the ever growing Indian economy is set to rake in an estimated $ 4900 million(more than the combined figures gained by the events held in Manchester, UK and Sydney, Australia) and around 2.5 million employment opportunities (such as the new air terminal, metro rail, power plant and expressways) over the next four years! The GDP figures look to rise around 8% in the foreseeable future with India putting its firm authority to be a likely winner of any future bids on extravaganzas of the sort!

There is however speculation that all may not end well as estimated as most of the nations in the past have suffered after holding an event of such magnitude. Greece recently suffered the pain after holding the Athens Olympics 2004.

According to us, by the looks of things, India Inc should be able to cope up and do well. Yes, the people of Delhi will suffer a bit in terms of price increase in basic commodities and property purchase, as taxes might experience a bit of hike. However as far as the Indian stock market is concerned things couldn't get much better!

According to the Economist, India looks almost ready to outpace China soon! This report is being based on facts yet again. Thanks to a young and growing workforce along with its democratic stature, India should experience a hike of around 8% in the coming year.

Given a choice between doing business in China or India, FII's at the moment are picking China, However, as the global economy becomes more knowledge-intensive, India's advantage will grow, with most Companies already preferring India for its knowledge based processes(Outsourcing=India Inc).

India's advantage seems to be yet another fact that India being a place where Ideas tend to flow more openly in comparison to its neighbor in the north.

India should also find a further development in Private Hospitals and Medical Tourism should also give India a huge competitive advantage in securing its position as major tourist hotspot in the forthcoming years!

ADVANTAGES

Encourage to Indian tourism industries.

Encourage to sports.

Encourage to good infrastructure and labor industry.

India would achieve after hosting such big games.

DISADVANTAGES

A poor country like us should better invest in resolving its huge bunch

of problems.

The income generated from these events will be less than, what would be put into these events and would be temporary too.

No planning of what will be done with the hospitality industry, after the games completes.

Preparations haven't finished yet and everyone is afraid, if it would defame India, just because of pathetic bureaucracy in our country.

REVIEW OF LITREATURE

Commonwealth Games: Corruption and Pride, A Debate

BY- Sanskar Shrivastava

AfteOr seeing the dirty pictures of the toilets of commonwealth games village in Delhi this month, the feeling of pride which Indians had in their mind turned somewhat into a feeling of shame. And the only thing the media and people could blame on were corrupted organizers, lack of inter department coordination and at some point of time people themselves and media for only covering and reporting the negative aspect of the games.

"Feel proud that India was able to defeat the developed nations, Canada in particular, in the bidding. After all this mess, All the major participating countries have given thumbs up to the village. You should see the picture of the commonwealth games venues. You will be really amazed that such infrastructure exists in India. India has been working since 2004 on this, and deadlines were missed due to corruption. Which is a global problem. Even in Melbourne commonwealth, players were forced to live in hotels as their village was not ready. XIX Commonwealth games is the wealthiest game and greenest as well. Many earlier commonwealth games ran out of money during preparations."

Lots left to do, India's image hit: Games chief

BY- Hindustan Time

Suresh Kalmadi, the OC chief, said other agencies should be blamed for the mess. "I am not the constructing agency, which was supposed to hand over the Village to us," he said.

On whether the CGF took things lightly during Fennell's last visit on August 18, when he said things would be ready by September 23, the original date for athletes to enter the Village, Fennell said he did warn the OC about the work that needed to be done. "I had asked them to clean up the Village. I also told the OC that things need to be replaced." Asked about safety concerns, he said that concerns still remain about evacuation from the towers in case of an emergency and health.

While Perry Crosswhite, the head of the Australian CGA, and Chris Jenkins, the chef de mission of Wales, were happy that the pace of work had picked up, the New Zealand team has delayed its entry.

COMMONWEALTH GAMES 2010: I'm happy to be a slumdog, says Tour de France star Cavendish

BY- Ian Stafford

'There is no question that a great deal of work still needs to be done. The water in the basements of the buildings is proving difficult to remove and I have great concern for the safety and security of athletes and officials. I will monitor the situation on a daily basis.'

Asked if he believed India had let down the Commonwealth Games, Fennell said: 'Yes, we're disappointed with a number of issues concerning India. We couldn't bring our athletes into this mess and I'm very sad that this work has not been done better. A lot of damage has been done to India as a host country.

'India is the largest country in the Commonwealth and it is absolutely right that the Games should have come here but after what has happened, we are learning a great deal about what it is like working with a country like India.'

Kalmadi accepted his share of blame but added: 'We were not involved for a long time. It was the constructors. 'This was not my responsibility. Monitoring the situation was my responsibility. Everything will be OK and our aim is to make these Games at least as good as Melbourne four years ago.'

At India's Commonwealth Games, shame

might be a blessing

BY- Subash kalra

Shame is the word of the week here, with 10 days left before the scheduled opening ceremony of what the erstwhile jewel in the British crown once hoped would be the largest and most impressive Commonwealth Games ever. Now, the growing fear is that the event may not come off at all, as the threat looms of a boycott by England, Scotland and Wales.

Even as organizing committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi struggled to persuade a skeptical and hostile press that the city and venues would be ready, the seemingly endless problems mounted.

Gunmen on a motorcycle shot two Taiwanese tourists in a possible terrorist attack over the weekend. On Tuesday a footbridge attached to one of the entrances for the showpiece Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium collapsed, injuring 27 workers and leaving three laborers in critical condition.

Missed link

The idea of conducting international events come from the wishes of leaders to keep their country in the spotlight of purposes of improving business attracting tourist and financially contribiution the growth of the country. Image blurring

Indian rulers are keen to not let any spats like H-1 B vise fee hike ,outsourcing bans and restrictions on exports on the US play spoilsport during US president barrack obama visit later on November . however, they seem to how a failure or even a partial failure in conducting CWG is going to affect the Indian image on the economic front.

Missing target

India is somewhat notorious for missing its targets due to several issue whether the GST (GOODS AND SERVICE TEX) issuance of unique ID to its citizens a proper response to the Kashmir struggle , reducing inflation.
